Top e-commerce SEO agencies in the USA: Shopify and WooCommerce

This guide compares five US agencies that sell e-commerce SEO or e-commerce marketing to online stores. Every figure was read on Clutch or on the agency's own website on 1 November 2026, and each is dated. It is a comparison and not a ranking, and PromotEdge International is an ecommerce SEO agency too, so we have left ourselves out of the list.

In short

An e-commerce SEO agency should know your platform, show how its work reaches orders and revenue, and say who makes the fixes. Rankings and traffic alone do not prove that.

Platform matters more than most lists admit. Shopify and WooCommerce handle URLs, speed and duplicate pages differently, so an agency that is strong on one can be new to the other. Ask for examples on your own platform before you shortlist.

How we made this list

Many “top agency” lists are built from awards and logos. We used facts a reader can check. An agency is listed here if its Clutch profile or its own website offers e-commerce marketing, development or SEO. We then read its Clutch rating, review count, team-size band and location, and the mix of services it says it sells.

The agencies are in alphabetical order. The order means nothing. We removed two agencies from an earlier version of this page, because we could not confirm an e-commerce focus on their own pages. Clutch's team bands and service shares are what the agencies reported, and Clutch checks business registration, not performance claims.

Shopify SEO against WooCommerce SEO: why platform fit changes your shortlist

Both platforms run large stores, but they ask different things of the people doing the SEO. These are the differences that come up most:

  • Hosting and speed. Shopify is hosted for you, so speed depends on your theme code and how many apps you add. WooCommerce runs on WordPress that you host yourself, so speed depends on your host and plugins.
  • URL structure. Shopify products and collections sit under fixed /products/ and /collections/ paths. WooCommerce lets you set your own permalink structure.
  • Duplicate pages. Shopify handles canonical tags itself, but filtered collection pages can still create near-duplicates. On WooCommerce, canonicals usually come from an SEO plugin that you configure.
  • Apps and plugins. Each Shopify app can add scripts, and each WooCommerce plugin can slow a page. WooCommerce gives you finer control to remove or replace them.
  • Content. Shopify's built-in blog is simple. A WooCommerce store can use the full WordPress editor, which suits stores that publish a lot.

An agency that is excellent at Shopify migrations may have done little inside a WordPress build, and the other way round. If your store runs on WooCommerce, page speed deserves its own look, and the Core Web Vitals fixes for WordPress are the first thing to ask about.

Five e-commerce SEO agencies in the USA

Each entry gives the Clutch figures first, then what the agency says it does. Read them as starting points for your own questions.

Coalition Technologies

Clutch rates Coalition Technologies 4.8 out of 5, with 167 reviews listed, 130 of them verified. It lists a Los Angeles headquarters, a second office in Austin, Texas, and a team band of 50 to 249.

Its Clutch profile puts SEO at about 70% of its service mix, with pay-per-click at about 10% and web design and web development at about 10% each. It names WordPress as its main platform, mentions Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce and Magento, and says it has completed “hundreds of large-scale migrations” on Shopify. Those are its own claims. If you plan to move platforms, ask to see a migration plan with redirects and a post-launch check.

Inflow

Clutch rates Inflow 4.9, from 13 reviews listed, 12 verified. It lists a Tampa, Florida headquarters and a team band of 10 to 49.

Inflow describes itself as a digital marketing agency, and its profile lists SEO, pay-per-click, conversion optimization, social media and e-commerce marketing, which is about 10% of its service mix. The review count is small, so read each review, and ask for e-commerce examples on your own platform.

OuterBox

Clutch rates OuterBox 5.0, from 93 reviews. It lists a Copley, Ohio headquarters, a 2004 founding year and a team band of 250 to 999.

Its Clutch profile puts SEO at about 45% of its services, pay-per-click at 25%, conversion optimization at 15% and web design at 10%. It lists e-commerce and manufacturing as 35% of its industries each, and splits its platform SEO between Shopify and WordPress at 45% each, with Magento at 10%. The profile summary does not list WooCommerce. If your store runs on it, ask for WooCommerce examples.

SmartSites

Clutch rates SmartSites 4.9, from 370 reviews, and lists a Paramus, New Jersey headquarters, a 2011 founding year, 15 US locations and a team band of 250 to 999.

Its website says it builds Shopify, WooCommerce and Magento stores and offers AI search optimization. Its Clutch profile puts SEO at about 50% of services and pay-per-click at about 30%. It shows Shopify SEO at about 30% of its platform work, behind WordPress at about 60%, and e-commerce at about 10% of its clients. Ask for store examples on your platform and what share of its team does e-commerce work.

Thrive Internet Marketing Agency

Clutch rates Thrive 4.6, from 115 reviews, 103 of them verified. It lists an Arlington, Texas headquarters, a 2005 founding year and a team band of 50 to 249. Its own website says Thrive has been in business since 2005 and has 160 or more online marketing experts, which are its own figures.

Its website lists SEO, pay-per-click, web design including Shopify and e-commerce sites, and marketplace services for Amazon, Walmart and Target Plus. On Clutch, SEO is about 70% of its service mix and e-commerce is about 10% of its clients. Check the reviews that mention stores like yours.

A note about us

PromotEdge International also sells e-commerce SEO, so we are not part of the list above and we hold no place in it. We are the PromotEdge group's team for companies outside India, and our delivery team is in India.

If you want to compare us with the agencies above, our e-commerce SEO page says what we do, how we report and who does the work.

How to choose an e-commerce SEO agency for your store

Work through these questions before you sign with anyone:

  • Ask for case studies on your platform. Results on Shopify do not prove skill on WooCommerce.
  • Ask how success is measured. Look beyond rankings and traffic, and ask whether reports connect SEO to leads, orders or revenue.
  • Ask who makes the fixes. Some agencies hand you a list. Others change the store for you.
  • Ask how they handle AI search. Overviews and chat assistants now answer many product questions, so the agency should have a plan to keep you visible there.
  • Read the contract terms. Flexible terms with regular reviews give you more room than a long contract with a hard exit.

Red flags to watch for

Be careful with an agency that promises a specific ranking, because no agency controls Google's results. Be careful too if it cannot explain how it handles your own platform, or if it relies on case studies you cannot check.

Look past content promises. A plan that is all new articles, with little about technical SEO, structured data, site structure and crawling, has probably not looked at what holds a store back. Reporting matters as well: rankings and traffic are useful, but a good agency can show how its work reached orders. Ask to see a sample report before you sign.

Questions buyers ask us

How much does e-commerce SEO cost for a Shopify or WooCommerce store?

It depends on the size of the catalog, the technical state of the store, how much content is needed each month and who makes the fixes. We have no sourced market range to quote, so we give none. Ask each agency for an itemized quote that separates set-up work from monthly fees, and ask what is left out.

Is Shopify or WooCommerce easier to rank in Google?

Neither platform has a ranking advantage that we know of. Search engines judge each page, its speed and the authority of the site, and both platforms can run well-optimized stores. Shopify is simpler to run. WooCommerce gives you more control and more to maintain.

How long does e-commerce SEO take to show results?

Plan in months. A technical fix can show in a few weeks. Gains in rankings and organic traffic usually take several months, and the effect on revenue takes longer. Highly competitive niches and stores with a lot of technical debt take longer still.

What should an e-commerce SEO agency report on?

Orders and revenue from organic search first, then the pages and searches that drive them. Rankings and traffic are useful but they are not results. Ask for reports built from your own analytics, so you can check every number.

Can an agency promise a first-page ranking?

No. Nobody controls Google's results, and an agency that promises a position is selling something it cannot deliver. A fair agency promises the agreed work, clear reports and early warning when a plan stalls.
